Recap: Porthcawl Chamber of Trade’s 2024 AGM

On the evening of April 23rd, 2024, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Porthcawl Chamber of Trade was held at the YMCA, John Street, Porthcawl. This meeting was attended by approximately 20 business owners and chamber members.

AGM Highlights

Mrs. Minhinnick, serving as chairperson, presented the annual report, a comprehensive document detailing the chamber’s activities, achievements, and challenges over the past year.

Following the report, Alun Edwards, Treasurer, presented the audited accounts.

Guest Speaker Session

Mr. Billy Stark, Principal Regeneration Officer at Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC), talked about the Porthcawl Town Centre Placemaking Strategy — a topic of interest and significance to the local business community.

The Town Centre Placemaking Strategy aims to rejuvenate and enhance the core of Porthcawl. Its principles, objectives, and potential outcomes were explained.

Subsequently, a spirited discussion and Q&A session ensued, wherein attendees earnestly shared opinions, suggestions, and apprehensions.

Social Gathering

This was followed by an informal social gathering and buffet, generously contributed by the members.

Looking Forward

This meeting wasn’t just about talking; it was about making plans for the future. The chamber and everyone involved want Porthcawl to be the best it can be.
