About Janz Art

Born in Sydney, Australia. Jan moved to the UK in 1970 with her family.

Jan is Architectural trained and worked in the Building Industry up until 1981. During this time she considered herself as a “leisure painter” as there wasn’t much time for painting bring up a family and working full time.

She “retired” in 2004 when she moved out to Australia. This gave her the opportunity to devote her time to painting. Here she embarked on a journey of discovery, collating ideas and inspiration for her artwork. Jan studied art in Studio 22 with internationally renowned Australian Artist Metka Skrobar. She enthusiastically experimented with different painting techniques, colour, texture, collage and mixed media.

Jan returned to South Wales in 2007 and devoted her time solely to painting. She became a member of The Silures Art Society in Porthcawl with the aim of becoming a full time Artist.

Jan has continued to explore and experiment, enjoying a variety of mediums and subjects, watercolours, acrylics and mixed media. Her use of colour and texture continues develop and evolve endeavouring to capture the essence of her chosen subject. Subjects include flowers, figurative works, landscapes and locally inspired seascapes.

Her work is held in private collections around the world.

In April 2014, Jan opened “Janz Art” a Contemporary Art Gallery, in Well Street in the South Wales seaside town of Porthcawl. Here she exhibits and sell her own paintings. Jan can be often found painting in the gallery, where she is happy to discuss her work. Her gallery offers the chance of purchasing affordable art direct from the Artist.
