A drop-in session and three-week public consultation is set to ask residents and businesses in Porthcawl for their views and thoughts on how the town centre can develop, thrive and enjoy a prosperous future.
Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council in line with the Placemaking Wales Charter, the public engagement will help to gather essential information, views, opinions and ideas that will be carefully analysed and used to support the development of a Porthcawl Town Centre Placemaking Strategy.
The drop-in session will take place between 9am – 7pm on 14 March at Trinity Church, and the consultation will remain open for three weeks between 14 March – 4 April.
Arrangements on how you can take part and have your say are currently being finalised, and more details will be confirmed very soon.
Cllr Rhys Goode, Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Regeneration, said:
“Placemaking enables organisations, businesses and communities to work closely together to identify the strengths, weaknesses and unique qualities that help to define an area, and to look at how this can all be used to draw up a strategy that will protect and enhance it while delivering future prosperity.
“We want to work alongside local people and businesses to develop a Porthcawl Town Centre Placemaking Strategy that can act as a conceptual layout for growth and development, but to achieve this, we need to hear from as many people as possible.
“This is an opportunity to pop in and talk to the council’s regeneration officers and find out more about the placemaking plans, so I hope that you will come and have your say on the future of Porthcawl town centre.”

Ive said a hundred times about suporting local businesses in Porthcawl ? In stead of heavy rent’s for shop premise’s lower them then shops will prosper i have friends who had to close becouse of that , it seams that the council prefers second hand shops ???and when people are in Porthcawl for the day wk end ext let them stay open longer. Also nice to have a sports center pool ext I was. Born in Porthcawl and its a lovely place to visit i remember seating all along the prom nothing better than a ice cream and a sit down hearing the waves ahhhhh,

More high street shops needed and less charity shops!
More brand food and beverage!
Let’s bring more people to the town and stop driving them away with the little amount we have in the town.
