Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal

A series of devastating earthquakes in southern Turkey and north west Syria have left millions of people in need of urgent support.

The first deadly earthquake struck while people were inside their homes, asleep in their beds, with no warning signs. More than 54,000 buildings, including hospitals and schools, have been destroyed or damaged. People have been left without shelter in freezing winter conditions.

Sustainable Wales and Porthcawl Chamber of Trade are raising funds for the DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal.

Even a small donation can help. You can donate in Porthcawl shops where we have placed collection tins or usng the donation button below (this button is also on the home pages of the Sustainable Wales site and the SUSSED website).

DEC charities are providing life-saving aid either directly or through local partners. But they urgently need more funds to reach more people.

DEC charities and their local partners are among the first responders providing urgent aid including medical care, shelter, food, water, blankets and heating.

  • £10 could provide blankets to keep two people warm
  • £25 could provide emergency food for a family for ten days
  • £50 could provide emergency shelter for two families

As of February collection boxes in SUSSED and many stores in Porthcawl have already raised £567.32
